Welcome to the world, Vest Friend Pattern!

Updated: Nov 26, 2023

After over a year in the making, the Vest Friend PDF sewing pattern is ready for you!

The Vest Friend is a zero/minimal waste PDF sewing pattern for a boxy layering garment for all bodies and all climates. With an inclusive size range fitting full busts/chests of 28-70”(71.1-178cm), and three different views, there is a Vest Friend to suit every sewist's needs. View 1 features a crew neckline, large patch pockets and basic welt pocket on the lining. View 2 is a collared version with two styles of patch pockets for either the main or lining. View 3 is a warm-weather version with shoulder ruffles. This intermediate level sewing pattern is a great introduction to zero-waste cutting layouts and utilizing cutting templates to create all necessary pattern pieces.

Get ready to be inspired by the fabulous garments that my tester group created, and start planning your own new Vest Friend!

Starting fabric width/length: two 29.5 x 25 inch rectangles cut one above the other.

Modifications: utilized alternative cutting layout provided in pattern to use 45" wide fabric. Reduced the large patch pockets by 3 inches and used extra to increase the height of smaller pocket (modification that is included in the pattern's Pocket Modifications Guide).
